Did you know that CYS is doing FREE scrapbooks for kids and soldiers? If you don't have a child that is old enough to participate, you should contact them to see if you can help. They're looking for volunteers. Basic supplies (book, pages, basic embellishments) are included in the Saturday activities.
Every Friday at the Art Center from here through the start and end of the deployments is "appreciation day" and you can use the multi-crafts room free of charge. Any other day, you pay $2.50 per hour for a studio fee. Bring whatever craft you'd like in there. Start a knitting group, take card stuff in to make a holiday card, buy a ceramics piece in town and bring it in to paint it, etc. On Thursdays from 11am-5pm (usually) you can utitlize one of the Ceramics volunteers' brains for free. You pay the studio fee of $2.50 per hour and can use the reclaimed clay for free to handbuild with. The volunteer will help you with techniques you've been trying to learn, that glaze you want to use, or even getting ideas for stuff to make. Speaking of which, I have a couple of ornaments that need glazing....
Okay... that's all the info I have to share right now.
