Have you been to Venice? You can do it in a day. Get bus tickets from the front desk of Ederle Inn. The bus picks up right outside one of the gates (they'll tell you which) and takes you to the train station. Its about $5 one way per person. Last train back to Vicenza is 10pm. If you want to stay in town, downtown is awesome. Again, grab bus tickets from the front desk. Well actually... its unfair of me to say downtown is awesome because I've lived here for 4 months and have seen A corner of it. I suck. I need to get out more.
Right outside of one of the gates, you can walk to "Reginas". There is a kabob place outside of the "pedestrian gate" (ask the front desk which one this is) and to the right at the next stop light. They're open really late if you get hungry. Don't go to the Chinese place outside of post that people are likely to recommend. It's alright but you're in Italy. Also outside of the pedestrian gate, if you go to the first lite (all walking distance) and take a right. You keep walking down past... 2? signals and there is a "Dragon Pizzeria" that I have heard excellent things about. You can always go by the USO and ask in there for help with things, or go to the info desk at ACS. The front desk is okay with helping out but.... when I stayed there for the 1st week I was here, we didn't go see or do anything because they would just say they didn't know. Geronimoprincess probably knows great places too as would jenabugg. We're all in Vicenza. **ETA You can buy train tickets to Venice from SATO to save you time and language barrier issues if you want. |

Thanks for the heads up on the bus to the train. My laptop was being repaired so I didn't have access for the past week. We are taking the train tomorrow to go down to Rome for the weekend
![]() If DH gets another day off we will take a day to Venice. We ate a a different restaurant every night the past 2 weeks - my fav. so far is Regina Restaurant. We drove down so we have our POV with us. We went to Nove and a few outlets but haven't made it to the Piazza at Vicena either. |
