Awesome! Do you like it? Hows the area? Whats the weather like right now? Is there a lot to do? Is there a lot of newer or older stuff (buildings and such) Im looking into visiting in March for spring break, i guess im just trying to get a lot of general info before i go. Lol What job does your SO do? DB is an MP

So far I really like it! The area is very nice and seems to be one of the nicer areas in Germany, the downtown area is busy and there are a ton of things to do down there. Right off post it is somewhat "country" but we just came from DC so pretty much any open land is country to me haha! The weather has been pretty cold lately with a lot of rain, but it seems to be warming up a little this week and has been in the low 50's. The buildings are very old and rustic and just beautiful, I could take pictures of the buildings and architecture all day!

My husband is a lab tech and works in the hospital, there are a ton of MP's here! It can be a tough transition moving overseas but once you get past some of the differences and dive into the German culture it is an amazing experience! One piece of advice is to try and learn the language, we were told so many people would speak English and to not really worry but so far our experiences have been that the majority of people do not really know English so it is just easier to try and learn their language and they really do appreciate it and will try and help you out! Let me know any other questions you or your DB may have

What do you use for a phone over there? He is looking into Skype and Vonage, but i want something where we can text throughout the day, but apparently a German cell phone would be crazy expensive and not worth it

We have T-Mobile pre paid cell phones to call one another and then with our internet package through TKS we have a house phone that can call the states for free so thats how we have been keeping in touch back home and of course Skype too!

Sunkissed, our orders just changed from Stuttgart to Heidelberg and I was wondering if you know if they let soldiers move off post, or do you have to stay on post? We'd love to move off post if we can!

From what I have heard and seen they are making everyone live on post, I have met a few O5's that were able to live off post though. I am not really sure of all the rules but I do know everyone was really upset when they started the "everyone" on post in 2008. We just got here a few months ago and live on post and had to wait 6 weeks for it! On post housing is not that bad but I dont blame you for wanting to try and live off post! Let me know if you have any other questions
