More questions about Guam...

We are definately going to Guam!

For you Guam girls I have a few questions I hope you can answer.

1. Do we have to get rid of our washer/dryer? I heard yes and if you bring it you cant use it! Which sucks if true cuz they are new! Just making sure!

2. How is storage and closet space for housing? We will be in a 3 bedroom. I've heard how nice the housing is there and thats coming from people who have been there and live here in CT housing now.

3. We want to buy a new kitchen table since ours is beyond old and were thinking of getting it here because it may be cheaper and more variety? What do you think? how is the furniture stores out there?

4. Marshal Arts? Is there many places where one can go...I'm into Muay Thai Kickboxing but also open to doing other stuff. I want to continue this when I get out there!

1. - I have no idea bout the washer/dryer. I would imagine you could bring it but I am not sure what housing would do with the units in your house.

2. - We live in Lockwood which is 3 bedrooms and the storage sucks! Each bedroom has a closet, there is a small linen closet in the hall, and a small pantry in the kitchen. We have two cars and we have to park both on the street b/c our garage is full of stuff that wouldn't fit in the house. The new housing area in South Tip has a little more storage but it still isnt great.

3. - I would definetly buy a dining room set before you come. The selection here is not all that great and I think the prices are high!

4. - Sorry, no idea about the martial arts.

I am excited, but I am also trying to figure out what to pack! DF is there already. From what I have read it is very expensive to shop off base. You need a car, he is looking for one now because he has been biking it and his butt is killing him!- Oh and he already got a flat tire! We are paying for my move because we are not married til I get there. So I am not bringing my furniture and everything. Just basic needs (grooming stuff, summer clothes, work clothes and shoes, shoes, shoes) for now. Everything else is going to storage til our next move. Something interesting: I have read a lot that if you can bring your own generator you will be really glad you did. I need to look into that...

Are you AF or Navy? I would think you wouldn't need your washer and dryer. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use them but they would definately add extra weight to your household goods. I would buy a table if possible before you come. The prices here are much higher then in the states, even at the BX or NEX. I cant really say about storage since I don't know where you will be, so let me know. As far as martial arts I know they have classes for children on base, but that's all I know, Hope this helps!

You can bring your own washer and dryer. My neighbor uses hers. We have ours here but don't use them.
Definitely invest in a generator. A lot of power outages here and they are a lot cheaper to buy in the states than here.
We live at South Finn (military housing, off base) my husband is in the Navy but stationed at the AFB. This housing is old but spacious. We have three bedrooms and the storage is pretty good.
About the dining room set, you could do either. The selection is limited but not too bad. They have the NEX furniture store and BX has furniture. The places out in town aren't too bad.
I'm not too sure about the martial arts places but I'm sure that they have them.
