Wedding Date - Weird or Sensible?

Okay, I will graduate in December 2010. DF and I were going to get married in January or February 2011, but we were reconsidering and thinking about getting married summer of 2010. Mainly because then he could get all the paperwork figured out during my last semester and then I could just move right out there after graduation.

This is mainly because he seems to think that getting housing will take about a month and I'm pretty sure from other people's experiences I've read on this site that it'll take a bit longer.

So, which makes the most sense?

Personally, I'd go with summer 2010. Just because I'm impatient and really just want to get married.

But I think your reasoning makes a lot of sense.

If you don't mind not doing it in the winter why not the summer? That way he can get everything set up before your move out there and if there is a waiting list for housing you wont have to wait as long to move. Congrats on getting married!

What would the impact be on your school if you married in 2010? In terms of FAFSA, tuition, finances, all that stuff.

That would be the first thing to figure out.

I'm with S. Sally on this. Think about how this will effect your financial aid. It might not be worth it. Plus, the military isn't going to pay for your move as it is. So if you wait to marry. . That time you are waiting for base housing you can use to build up the money for your relocation. Also, if you don't have children seriously consider if base housing is the best idea financially for you. Many couples find that by living off base and getting BAH allows them to make a bit more than losing all BAH to live on base. It could be an excellent way to save up and pay off student loans or save up for a trip or even a baby.

1) I don't have any financial aid. I'm not eligible - regardless of being married or not. (It's a course credit limit thing). I don't have student loans to pay off because I was lucky enough to have my parents pay for my college. (No, I'm not SPOILED - in case anyone decides to give me crap about this. I'm just lucky and my parents have the money to do it.) Plus I have scholarships (which also wouldn't be effected by my marital status).

2) We aren't having children for a very long time.
