Hawaii girls
What is the job market like for spouses in Honolulu near Shafter? I think we are headed there (not official yet, but on roster for base) and I NEED A JOB. It doesn't have to be full time but I go insane in the house all day.
I am looking for clerical, admin, or creative arts. Any leads? |

Also, very seriously, on or off post? What is a typical utility bill? Most places we looked at had water included but not electric. How much does that generally run if you run the AC on a fairly regular basis? What about heat and trash and things? We can't decide on or off and want to know if it's possible to use more than the BAH after rent and utilities, or if we will come out slightly ahead or even.

If it's just you and your husband, I'd recommend living in an apt off base. If you have kids, it may be more wise to live in base housing. Also, if you're a one vehicle family, then it'd may also be best to live in housing. |

We have one car and a motorcycle but no kids. We thought we might be able to stretch BAH but if elec is $500 then that would actually go over our allowance...yikes. This is an expensive place no?
Can DH use the bike to go to and from work? |
