When looking for an apartment in Tacoma.. - NorthWestern U.S

I highly suggest staying clear of the 56th/Orchard block. Actually, most areas in Tacoma.

I'm currently in Orchard Hills Apartments, and though we THOUGHT we were getting a good deal, we found out a few days after moving in that there was gunfire on the CHILDRENS PLAYGROUND that would be my back yard if I was on ground level. There were 6 or 7 shots fired off because of 2 gangs: Orchard Hills gang, and the Hilltop or Hillside (i'm unsure which one it is) gang. Last weekend there was another 6 shots fired off on the road behind these apartments, in the apartments on the backside of the complex, and 2 days later there were 3 more shots. I called in the 3 shots, but as far as the other happenings go, there was "no report", according to the pierce county sheriff's department.

Just a warning!

I'm now working on relocating to McChord AFB. Can't be worrying about stray bullets, drugs, and my vehicle being stolen once my son is born at the end of Nov. or early Dec.

not always true. I lived in Tacoma with my cousin. She's never had a problem in ANY of the areas she's lived.

I've lived in Tacoma since the beginning of the year and have had no problems.

I came from Puyallup, I just haven't had very good luck with this place that I'm at right now. 2 shootings within a 3 day span.. and then one 2 weeks before.

We lived off Hosmer for awhile in Aladdin Camelot Apartments. The true definition of a ****hole. Then we moved to Parkland. Aravia Apartments are awesome and nestled in the woods! VERY QUIET!

But crime is everywhere. Some see it and some don't. Good luck!

Yeah, isn't that near the Tacoma Mall? I thought it was common knowledge to stay away from that area.

we live a few blocks away in fircrest... never hada problem.. ever. sorry you had that happen good luck with being relocated
