Fort Lewis Housing - NorthWestern U.S

Hello everyone!

I am currently living off post and with DH deployed i think it will be cheaper to try and get on post housing. The people down at housing won't give me a straight answer as to which neighborhood is best for a E-3. PLEASE someone help me out here! I have driven by a few neighborhoods and frankly some of them scare me, but i doubt i can expect much more given the rank...any thoughts??

I've never lived on post but I didn't think you got a say in where you lived. I thought you just got whatever was available when your name was at the top of the list.

Why don't you go in? They have model homes for most of the neighborhoods. That's how we decided.

Do you have children?

It's pretty much all the same for E4 and below if you don't have kids. Clarkdale isn't bad if you get one of the renovated ones.

I see you have 1 child.

To be honest, there was no way we would move on post before DH got his 5. It's not bad but we wanted more room. I think you could move into discovery park which is really nice. Your DH may have to be an E4 though.

Some that look crappy on the outside are actually nice in the inside from what I hear.

We live in Hillside and we are E-3. they are quite nice

We are moving to Lewis next month. We will need a 4 bedroom. We are unsure if we will live on or off post. I am worried about the high school.
