Newport,RI??? - NorthEastern U.S

DF just got his orders. Right now he's in A school in Great Lakes for corpsman training, then he'll be going to North Carolina for 7 weeks for FMSS training. Then, he'll be stationed in Newport,RI. I'm from MA, so about 20 minutes from Providence,RI..so him being in Newport will be so close! Anyone know anything about Newport? Any information would help us a lot! Thanks!

My DH is from RI and he has been stationed in Norfolk for 18 yrs. I am so jealous

His family is in East Providence RI. What do you want to know? Make sure you guys go to federal hill for yummy Italian food

I am from Fl but I love RI. I actually call that home.

I am a RI native and know lots about the area (I grew up 20 min from Newport- but in RI, everything is 20 min from everywhere else!)

I grew up about 15 minutes from Newport (Fall River, Ma which is the city that borders Tiverton, RI) What do you want to know about the area?

He's gonna get good BAH, it's expensive to live in Newport.

OMG thats awesome! I would love to get orders to Newport! My husband's family is in Fall River (like 15/20 minutes away... depending on how fast you drive lol) and my family is just south of Boston... I miss MA...

Newport isnt a very active base... kinda quite... but the area is really nice... I love going to Newport.

Newport is beautiful!! You're really lucky! You're really close to Boston too!! And not far from a lot of other awesome places in the NorthEast!!! That's an awesome location!! Congrats!!!
