    Woodbridge, VA to Andrews AFB...

    Advertisements
Would we be totally crazy, out of our minds to do that commute?

I found a house, in our BAH (400.00 lower when we sew on Tech in May), perfect Blue Ribbon School, perfect house, close to friends. Commute is *the* only issue.

    what are your thoughts?

Don't. That's a ridiculous commute for you guys. Not to mention 95 sucks and they are doing a shit ton of construction all over. I'd say the aggravation is not worth the money saved.

Anything going into DC during the morning will be hell from Woodbridge and leaving DC in the afternoon again will be hell. As my dad would say you will be paying that $400. or more in gas a month just from being in traffic.

Yea it would be much easier if you are going into DC in the evening/ or after maybe 10-11am It still is a good drive even without traffic once he doesn't mind that.

I say do what makes your family happy. You can always move closer if it's too much to handle down the road... Congrats on finding a house

We do the same mileage here in Tampa to his parents house almost every other weekend. Woodbridge to Andrews is about 28 miles, to his parents house, it is 24. We have been doing it for 11 years. TRAFFIC is the only issue...

    I just don't know.
I have looked at Springfield, Fairfax Station, Burke, Lorton, Newington, and even in MD (in which the schools SUCK)
The house we would get for the higher BAH is MUCH older (and out of our price until may)

That would be a very long commute. It may only be 28 miles, but trust me with the construction on 95 and the bridge traffic etc... even on off hours it will be a lot.

I would rather be stretched on the rack than do that commute. To put it in perspective, J lives in Crofton (Anne Arundle County) and commutes to the State Dept every day. It's only a 24 mile drive. On a GOOD day of traffic it's a 1:30 drive. On most days it's a 2:15 drive. EACH WAY!!!!!!! The commute sucks the life out of him and puts a big strain on us. It's not worth it. We are currently weighing all of the options because it just isn't working for our life together.
