Quantico, VA questions

Hey ladies... DH and I are trying to decide where we want to try and go next and he's pretty set on heading to Quantico. I have never been there, so I have no idea what to consider before we make the final decision.

Can you tell me what its like? The base? The area around it? Is the housing on base or off? Is it nice? Any details that would be good for a new person to know, please share.

I know it will be a culture shock but he's from Ohio and I was born in NY so we both remember the East Coast, just not that area exactly.

A year or year and a half. We aren't sure exactly when but March 2011 he's officially done with current unit. We might be able to go before then, but no duty station yet means no plans yet.

Housing , supernice (we live off base though)
Traffic: horrible, horrible and then horrible
Jobs: pretty easy depending on what kind of job of course
Culture: Great
I really like this area

Do you live in base housing, off base? Or just out in town? I think I'd want to try and be in base housing because I plan on becoming a family child care provider and they register base houses for that mostly (or at least here they do)

But we get a year, probably more, to spend together before we have to even worry about that

We own our house but I have friends on base and everyone likes their house. They are all very new. I dont think you will be disappointed.

Area - awesome (lived in northern VA for more than half my life)

Traffic - ummm, takes some getting used to. Once you learn alternate ways to get places it won't seem so bleak, but it does require patience. Or the ability to sing really loud with the radio and entertain yourself if youre stuck in traffic.
