Ever been to Johnstown, PA? - NorthEastern U.S

Looks like my DH and I are getting stationed there in Sept. I have never been there, but I hear it's a depressed old mining town. There's no millitary base there, just the Marines leasing space on the airport.
Has anyone ever been there? What was it like?

never been there before but im moving out towards pittsburgh....all ik about johnstown there was a big flood there in the 1960s?

I have family there, but I have only been there once for a family reunion... it's about a bajillion hours (okay... four) away from my hometown.

I don't remember much about it, except the park where we had our reunion was pretty.

Yes, there was "The Great Johnstown Flood" that killed over 2000 people in 1889.
