Help NOVA SCHOOLS - FAIRFAX OR PRINCE WILLIAM?

    Advertisements
We are moving soon to the Fort Belvoir area and I am trying to decide on Fairfax or Prince William elementary schools. Any opinions of the two counties? Anyone out there with special needs kids with opinions on the services of either counties?

I went to West Springfield High School in Fairfax county. It is one of the best districts in the country, and I loved my experience there. I may be biased, but they are great.

I think Fairfax in general has a much better school system.

You can check some of the school grade websites to get a good idea as well.

I'll go find the sites and come edit with links

There are great schools in both districts
Both my kids are or will be in PWC schools.....my experience has been wonderful so far.

Honestly, I would look at all schools and areas that you are thinking of and see what each has to offer.

Fairfax has a great reputation. When you check the schools' website, make sure to also check for the schools they would attend in a few years (if you have elementary schoolers, check the middle school's website too, etc.) I work in a district with a fantastic elementary school I'd be happy to send my kids to. But this elementary school feeds to an awful high school so it would never be my choice to live in this district.

If you move onto Fort Belvoir the base you're kids are enrolled into Fort Belvoir Elementary. Unless you choose to send them to another school in which case you provide the transportation to get them there. If you live in Fairfax county and want your kids to go to a Prince William County school I believe(I could be wrong) you have to pay a fee and provide your own transportation.
