Winters what are they like? Are they as nuts as I hear?
    Shopping any good? People? Fashion?
    Housing? Traffic? Work?
Anything and everything you can tell me would be of great help
Is it a "Navy town" or is it not like one at all?
Hubby said it isn't very navy and that is why he thinks I would like it.
I just wanted to ask someone other than him.

I grew up right near there...no it's not Navy at all...the base isn't even in Saratoga, it's in Ballston Spa I believe....down town is beautiful during the summer, and there's always things to do, there's a mall and a bunch of strips, just outside of town...and the main strip in town has tons of little shops, and restaurants, and coffee bars and stuff...and there's a horse race track that's open for part of the summer...so be prepared for LOTS of tourists...HTH feel free to PM me if you have any other questions!

There is a good mall half an hour away and lots of smaller malls in the immediate area! People are mostly friendly. Very small town atmosphere!! Housing is nice. Traffic is not bad. Work just depends on what you do or what you want to do. It is not a NAVY TOWN AT ALL. In fact many of the natural residents do not even know there is a site out here. We get a commissary in just 2 weeks!!!! yea!! It is right around the corner from housing! PM me if you want to know more.. i am currently living here in military housing!!

I'm here too. We've been here for 17 months. We now live about 23 miles from Saratoga Springs, but we just moved out here in January. So if you have any questions I'd be glad to help. I'm excited to have more SOSers in the area!

Yeah, I swear between memorial day and labor day the population of the town more than doubles. It's crazy. And a good portion of the people are up from NYC or other places like that. Lots of money, for sure.

ugh. don't remind me about shift work. LOL. Sometimes I wonder why we signed up to stay here for 2 years of non-stop shift work. But I suppose it's better than deployments.
