Great Lakes ladies I got questions!!

If we get these orders to GL I have a few questions. Is housing better or worse then it was a few years ago? We lived there in 02 and it was ok. We now have 2 kids and a dog so I was wondering do they still have those houses with fenced back yards? Do you get certain houses with dogs? Is it worth getting housing or should we just try to rent a house? I've heard some scary stories about how things are run up there housing wise. If we get these orders we'll be moving up there late fall early winter. It's been a long time since I"ve been there so I was just mainly worried about housing if it's worth it.

All the housing is getting torn down and there is new housing going up. They are all single family homes with smaller yards and a tiny little white fence.

Forest city sucks and I hate the way things are run here. They will likely try to make you go into a 2 bedroom and make your kids share since they are young. Its possible they wont but they have done that with alot

Personally, the cost of housing isnt too bad out here, I would find a house to rent or something and use housing as a last resport. This isnt even really military housing any more as civlians are allowed to live here and such

If I was to look online today just to see the price of houses to rent what areas should I look in. I can't remember what is close to the base or not too far from it and is nice to live in.

Gurnee, Lake Forrest, Lake Bluff, Vernon Hills, Grayslake, Libertyville, Mundelien, Zion, Some parts of Waukegan aren't bad. Personally I would stay out of North Chicago.

I just looked online and no way can we afford to live out. Apt and houses are wayyy to much.

If you look on craigslist you can find some affordable places. If not then I suggest calling forest city. Because they may put you in a 2 bedroom (remember the situation with Brandi?) Their policy states if the kids are young enough to share they can. In fact they just told 1 guy when I was in there to drop payment off that he could not go in a 4 bed with 3 kids. Only a 3 bed but the new houses have an extra room but had no carpet, just tile called storage he could use as a kids room she actually told him that

The new houses are nice. but civilians can and do live in here now and i m fed up eith fc. IF we ever come back i will never live here

I'm opposite! I say steer far and clear of waukegan but some parts of north chicago arent too too bad. But then again i know areas appear different to different people

I will be pissed if they have to share a room. No way to I want a baby in with my 2 yr old keeping her awake. That is just wrong on so many levels. Plus how is it ok to have 2 adults 2 kids a dog and a cat all in a 2bedroom house that's what we are doing now and it sucks to be living on top of eachother. I'm starting to stress not b/c I do not want to live in a 2 bedroom.
