My husband grew up there and i'm from Joplin. My MIL still lives in Springfield but is moving up here with us to O'Fallon, IL next month.
I'll still be driving through Springfield frequently though to visit my parents in Joplin. =) |

My step-dad's family is from that area. Personally, I think generally it's not that great a place, full of crazy bible thumpers and closed minded people... that has been my experience anyway...
HOWEVER... 1. It's close to some Amish settlements which is cool. 2. It's close to Lamberts Cafe which is an amazing restaurant, and probably one of the only reasons I will ever go back. 3. Branson is not too far away, and the Branson Landing shopping/dining complex is amazing. 4. It's a pretty area in middle America, so if you can tolerate some negatives, along with summers that at times feel like you're stuck in an oven... you can't really go wrong. |
