I am not an engineer. But I have seen "lost in space."
Is there a way they could insert a tubing of sorts and inflate it so the boys could craw through?
    Is that an insane idea?

Not safely, no. Or at least, I doubt it very much. The tube would have to be several miles long (the longer it is the more fragile it will be) and the terrain they'd have to get it through looks a lot like this

    .

It's not level ground. At least one section of it (marked as the "narrow flooded section" here) is cramped enough that if they made the boys swim out they would have to do it alone - reports I've seen suggest that they couldn't fit both a boy and an experienced adult diver who could guide him in that space at the same time. Looking at the map, any tube or tunnel would have to be under several metres of water for at least a few hundred metres, which means it would have to be totally watertight and strong enough to bear the weight of the water pressing down on it; if some part of the middle failed under strain, anyone in there would die.

Plus the water is floodwater/run-off from the surface. It's rainwater. God knows what kind of debris it picked up, or what damage any debris might do to the tunnel...

I haven't got a clue how they're going to solve this.

I've been cavern crawling before and THAT WAS NO JOKE! Scariest thing I've ever done and I was safe the entire time. I cannot fathom the fear those kids were going through being stuck in there and for several days at that. I hope they all get medical and mental health treatment because that must be so traumatizing.

I haven’t been able to figure out why they’re down there. Something about it flooding? What were they doing that they’re now stuck in this cave and nobody can get to them?

It wasn’t flooded when they went in.

They went to explore a cave they knew and had been in before. When it started to rain outside (the monsoon is reportedly a little early this year) the rising water cut them off, and they had to go further inside to find high ground.

This is why I don't explore caves... well, this and I am a chicken.
I had not heard the reason they were there either - thanks for the update.
