Can't believe this isn't here yet.

What do you guys think about the UK leaving the EU? Pro? Against? Do you think Scotland will hold another independence referendum?

Personally, I think a brexit was the dumbest thing they could do.

I was so surprised to wake up and see they actually voted to leave the EU. I don't know all the ins and outs though I've been trying to keep up with it seems like they are gonna have some turbulent times ahead of them.

I'm not much of an economist but my brother is a bond trader on wall street and I spoke to him this morning and he said it's a disaster. Just a matter of time before the entire EU breaks up. The rest of the countries don't want to be propping up countries like Greece that are essentially bankrupt. Not at all good for the world economy according to him.

I feel so incredibly stupid...but I have no idea what any of this is/what it means. Is there a link I can go to so that I can educate myself on this or can someone summarize it for me?

I say good for them. I wouldn't want to be beholden to laws and regulations made by a foreign body that I did not elect, and had no ability to get rid of. They voted, majority voted to leave. I'm not a Brit, so its not really my place to tell them what to do with their own country.

This has the potential to be really bad. I get why they don't want to keep supporting failing countries but what happens from here?

From my understanding, and I'm no expert, is that other "strong" countries in the EU like Scandinavian and Germany could be the next to drop out. That would start to cause a run on the EU banks and the currency could become almost worthless dropping much of Europe into a economic and financial crisis the likes of the great depression. Again ... I'm far far from and expert, just voicing what I have heard.
