In the military and so is my SO
Hi girls. I have been a part of some Navy forums for awhile as I am heading to Newport, RI this winter to attend OCS. My boyfriend is a SSgt Marine. I have found a lot of useful knowledge on the other sites for preparing to leave, it's exciting to see there is a support system like this one for the girls out there.
I have no clue what kind of group I will fall into after training. Will I be one of the guys or be in the wives group on base? Any girls here have experience with how the female military members are treated amongst the base families? Toes not to step on? |

Welcome!!
Im not in the military.. Im a military wife.. but my BFF is both... And she has always been treated as both... (kind of like the civilian world.. ) If she is hanging out with her friends that happen to be wives.. she is then a "wife".. if its a military function or a group of military people hanging out.. she's "one of the guys" so to say

We have several active duty members (male and female), and a couple of us are dual retirees. Before I retired 12 years ago, I found that I was able to 'mesh' into lots of different groups: active duy organizations, spouses' organizations, etc. I hope you stick around here!
