Hey all! I'm new here, and my fiance's graduation is in 4 days! I'm a nervous wreck, and basically, well scared. We've been apart before, but not for this long. Basics wasn't as bad as I expected, but he gets no time off before A School except for liberty weekend. I though I was doing pretty well, until I started reading forums and searching for support. Suddenly, it all came pouring in and really hit me.
He's a Nuke, and his recruiter said (prior to boot camp) that they weren't sending Nukes to Iraq, but guess what? BS. So up until now I've been okay. Now I'm stressing out and worried to death. All your support and prayers would be much appreciated. Right now I'm focusing on getting to see him and kiss him for the first time in months! But I know when I get on the plane home it'll all come back to me. My sailor is my world. He's my best friend and I'm very proud of him. And right now, I'll take all the friends and advice I can get. |

How exciting! You get to see him... focus on that first! My advice to you is just take things as the come. You can't worry about a deployment until he is going to be deployed. You will make yourself crazy otherwise! Make it through PIR and then A school and go from there! Congrats and good luck with your new life as a military wife!

Hey, and welcome!
My bf's a nuke too, and graduated from A school about 2 months ago. He's currently down there awaiting power school. Don't worry, you will have much more time to spend and talk to your SO when he gets down to SC.If I could recommend anything, I would tell you and him to make sure he gets a phone card before liberty weekend is over. Ours really came in handy. After DB left Great Lakes, he was able to call me from the airport in Chicago using the pay phones and phone card, and also, when he got to SC, there are pay phones on base. He would call me from the phone and phone card and the number came up on my cell. I would then call the pay phone back so that he wouldn't waste the minutes on the card (which can get expensive). Then of course, I sent him his cell phone as soon as I got the address down there. Also, I would not even worry about him going to Iraq. I think that's highly unlikely. They try not to put nukes directly in harm's way because they are quite valuable, and they also need them for subs and carriers.. I'd say that's where he'll probably end up..which isn't so bad. Plus! If you are still worried about him ending up in Iraq, think of it this way… he's going to be in training for another year and a half or so. By that time, we may not even have many troops in Iraq. , hang in there!
