Okay.. I'll give this a try.
Haye everyone. I'm Jackee. I'm 24. I live in Arkansas. I have a little boy who's almost 3! (Wow. Time flies!) I'm in law school... um.. I guess those are all the boring facts about me. Now to the reason I'm here...
I'm in a new relationship with my boyfriend, who is in the Air Force. He was stationed here early this year and will be here for a few years. Sadly... right before he met me he volunteered for a deployment and he just found out about three weeks ago that he's going to Afghanistan in mid-September. He'll be back in mid-January. Everything about the military is so new to me still and the thought of him leaving is almost impossible to grasp. It's like it hasn't 'hit' me yet, if that makes sense. I've already browsed around the site and really liked people's advice on what to expect while going through your first deployment, etc. I can tell this place is going to be my new best friend! lol I hope that all of you can help me understand the military life from the perspective of a significant other and in turn, one day maybe I can help out a newbie who feels as overwhelmed as I do right now!

 Hi! I am in a very similar boat- met db and found out he was deploying a short time later- AND I'm a lawyer (graduated law school in 06) so I know the pressure you're under with school and stuff- Godd thing is that will give you a GREAT thing to focus on while he's away- it took up all of my time! Welcome- you will LOVE it here.

I have a question for you... If you and your DB stay together and move around occassionally because he's in the military, what are you going to do considering that you're an attorney? I've been wondering this myself. (I tend to think WAY too far ahead.) My DB told me that there is a way to get some sort of special certification or something in which you can work as an attorney for those in the military while still being a civilian. This certification or degree makes it possible to move without retaking the BAR in other states, I think. Do you know anything about this? I'm curious. Nice to meet you!
