    Nikolai's birth story

I'm exhausted and really hurting so this is gonna be the cliff notes version but I wanted to come say for all the and .

Anyway, I woke up at 7 am Wednesday morning to a large gush of fluid. We made it to L&D about 8. By 8:30 they had checked me and admitted me at 3cm and fully effaced. I attempted the birthing tub for about 8 hours but had to get out because of Nikolai's position on my pelvic bone and the heat of the water making me sick. We then spent a little over and hour trying to shift his position. I couldn't tell a difference but the midwife seemed happy. I spent about 3 hours total pushing and he came out sunny-side up with his hands by his face. It really hurt. A lot. He was born 12/11/2013 at 22:11. He was 6 lbs 15 oz and 20.5 inches long. I ended up with a second degree tear (supposedly just shy of 3rd degree) and 14 stitches. Standing and walking are a bit of a challenge still but they discharged me after a day and a half.

Anyone have some advice on how to make caring for the stitches easier? All I was told was not to rub them and soap will make it burn.

Yes, that with some warm water may feel good.

Congrats. Can't wait to see the little man and hope you feel better soon.

Peri bottles with warm water are amazing and dermablast is great too.

I'll def post pics once I can get on a real computer. My tablet refuses to cooperate.

for the advice. I always seem to forget the bottle when I take a shower but that thing is so amazing. I'll have to get better about remembering it at shower time. I'm super paranoid that my stitches will end up infected.
