    Car seat question!! Latch system.

    Advertisements
I tried googling it but could not find exactly what I was looking for. We are looking at purchasing a 2006 Kia Senoda mini van which has a latch system on all the seats but does anyone know the standards on the latch in that vehicle? Is it car seat and baby weight or just baby weight and the limit to use it? I am curious if LM can use latch or if I should still use belt?

Weight limit on the latch system always refers to the child and seat weights combined.

    2006 Kia Sedona Owners Manual

Here is the manual. it does not say, so I guess it would deffer to the carseat manufactures recommendations

Really? I thought that depended on the model of the car? I thought someone had posted about that and certain cars like Honda only took into count kid weight not both when factoring in the latch. Hmmmm.

Hey - thank you that was hard to find on my phone in the dark while DH was driving. I will have to look-up my carseat recommend then if the manual doesn't say.

Not all. My Ford is 48lbs of child only.

Youll need to go off of what you're car seat manuals say Chaleigh

ETA- the smart seat has a limit of 48lbs.

I don't understand how it wouldn't need to account for the seat since seat weight varies and the seat/child combo is what is supported by the latch.

That would be something you'd need to talk to a CPST about it. Try asking on car seats for the littles.

Child weight? Or combined because if it's combined you would never be able to use it I swear the seat itself weighs 50lbs

Hondas I believe are also 48lbs child only.
But I don't see a standard for kias.

Awesome. That system is going to make putting the infant seat in for Edmund so much easier. I am excited to have it.

Now the top tether for FF is only used on my seat once the base is not used right? Or should I be using it tethered down now as well as the base being latched in. I couldn't find it in my book.
