    Tummy time

    Advertisements
Piper hates tummy time! She either just lays her head down and looks around or rolls onto her side and a couple times her back. Is there some way I can encourage her to lift her head or do I just let her do her own thing? She does lift her head a lot while she lays on my chest so I don't really push it.

She's still pretty young to expect her to do it for more than a few seconds at a time. Laying her on your chest while you're laying flat is AWESOME right now . You can also try propping her chest up on a rolled up dishtowel and see if that helps...get on her level and talk to her, show her toys she likes, especially if they make noise or light up...rattles are awesome too.

Mirror play is great too, if you have a small mirror.

As long as you're "exposing" her to tummy time a few times a day, even if its just for a minute or two, you're doing awesome
Put on your big girl panties and deal with it like a boss.

DS hated tummy time and I never pushed him too much about it. If she will lay on your chest at 4 weeks that's great, we didn't start making an effort with that until I think 3-4 months...

Ok cool I wasn't sure what I should be expecting at this point, all I knew is that it's supposed to strengthen her neck and arms. The doctor said to start doing it a couple minutes at a time a couple times a day but that was all she specified.

Tummy time counts even if it's on your chest which is what most children prefer especially at this age and what is best for them. We didn't push or try floor TT until 3/4 months and even then she wasn't a huge fan so I didn't push it.

Bowen has always hated being on his tummy on the floor. He likes it better now that he can roll over better and has more control over it. I worried a lot about it, but he's doing just fine even though 99% of his tummy time was on my chest.

Aria hates it too. What's funny is when she's on her back, rolls to her tummy then starts screaming... girl you did it to your self!

I'm impressed she rolled over to her back already. Natalie only did that for the first time a week ago.

I'm not sure if it was just a fluke thing or what! she did it twice back to back because she was pissed I has her on her belly, she hasn't done it since though.

Bowen rolled belly to back a few times starting at 7 weeks, then just stopped i think he was just mad, too! My mom is convinced that early rollers are early walkers. I rolled at 3 weeks and walked at nine months.
