    He's in love!

With a giraffe security blanket! We just began giving it to him yesterday, and since, he won't sleep without it. I didn't think babies could get attached to things this young. If we take it from him, he screams like non other. Last night, I wouldn't let him sleep with it (fear of suffocation) and took it from him. He barely slept, and to get him to sleep, i'd rock him with the blanket and then take it from him.. and he'd wake up again. Endless battle.

    But, it's cute.

    Proof is in the pudding..

    First nap- (yesterday PM)

Rocking him back to sleep at 1am

    Morning nap

    And now..

Should I take it away from him before he becomes too attached?

I'd get a spare or two just in case!!! And rotate them regularly so that they wear the same..... Otherwise you may be screwed if it's in the wash at bedtime

ETA: better to have an extra in case something happens than have something happen & not be able to replace the darn thing...... My cousin's 4yo has 3 "Woof"s

Both of my girls had blankies.

My older daughter received it from a sweet older lady in the NICU. She still has it on her bed. My littlest got hers when she was 4 weeks old. Now, at 4.5, she still sleeps with it. I got a second one to rotate, but it only worked when she was tiny. Once she got older, she had a definite preference and chose the first one over the other one.

    So adorable.

To answer your question, do what you feel comfortable with. DD is 22 months and still has her frog blanket, much like the giraffe blanket he's got. It brings her comfort when she's somewhere unfamiliar (like when we were in billeting last month) and when we travel. We've had a couple of incidences where we thought we'd lost it. I'm not taking it away from her until she's ready, but that's what works for us.

Emma is attached to...everything? But she has specific things she has to have at night. Maddie doesn't care as long as it's soft and fluffy.

Just have a few different things for him. And it's really good that he's attached to something! My ped said it's a healthy thing.
