    Question Babysitters?

    Advertisements
    How did you find yours?

I'm a hypocondriac so the idea of a complete stranger watching my son scares me half to death. Unfortunately I know very few people who are both capable and willing to watch Landon.

My mom has been trying to take me to see downtown Nashville for weeks now, but I don't know anyone that can babysit and it's making me feel like I'm about to jump out of my skin

So...that being said, how did you find your babysitter? Were you comfortable with that decision? How much do you pay them? Do they go to your house, or do you drop them off at theirs?

I've never had anyone but family and close friends watch Landon before so I'm not sure how it all works

With DH being gone I am not comfortable leaving Miss with anyone other than my parents and even then I hate it so

But I hope you are able to find someone? Family friend maybe?

Friends older teenage daughters. I gave them a trial first to see how my kids were with them before asking them back.

The only ones we have here say they can't do it.

Tried this too, they're always working it seems (that or they just don't want to do it ).

I don't know which will apply, if any, to you so I am just going to list places I have either gotten jobs from or know people who found their baby sitters that way.

    Referrals from other moms
Daycare providers (a lot make extra money on the weekend babysitting)
If you work out at a gym that has childcare, those teachers
    Church
Play groups that do baby sitting swaps
    Care.com
    Extended family in the area

Friends have suggested babysitters to me, but I'm honestly too paranoid to let anyone watch the baby. When the day comes that I do get a babysitter for him, I would ask my friends for suggestions and who they use.

We have a fifteen-yr-old daughter. We don't ask her too often, though. And if she's not available, we have a group of friends that "swaps" babysitting duties. It's worked out great and I'll miss it when we PCS in six weeks.

ETA: I have no issues with my kiddos being with a babysitter. Prior to DH and I, I was a single mother and had DD in daycare because I was working outside the home. DH on the other hand is very apprehensive about leaving the younger kids with someone. YDD has no separation anxiety either and will go to anyone(which scares me).

I have some friends I trust to watch Z but my main break comes from her being in a home daycare 2 mornings a week.
