Do you pick them up right away?

When your babe wakes up from a nap do you pick them up right away or wait until they fuss? Or only when they begin to cry?

For us Naomi will wake up around 6am but talk to herself and still be chill, sometimes doze back off until 7:30 or so. I have taken to not picking her up unless she is fussy because she tends to sleep better and longer if I do.

Currently she is in her crib talking to get animals and sucking her blankie/thumb.

Likewise when she is playing on the floor and fussy I wait a few minutes for her to attempt self soothing and if that fails and we really are just done I snag her up.

Curious what others do and how it works?

If I hear her fussing I give it 10 " mississippi's" before I see whats wrong. Most of the time, its just her talking in her sleep or getting comfortable again, she lets me know when she's ready to get out with " mama!"

I do the same thing you do.

When he's up and playing on the floor, if he starts to fuss and I can't get there right away, I'll talk to him so he knows I'm there. He's (most likely) the last one so I admit I spoil him.

I wait till I think something is really wrong. If she's just fussing I wait a while because she likes to fuss in her sleep.

DH: Thank you. ME: For what, babe? DH: For being you.

I want until they are crying or clearly unhappy/fussy. Now the girls are old enough they just yell for me when they are ready to get out of bed. Most of the time I have to go get YDD out of bed because she'll stay in bed awake for hours. I think it's good for children to learn self soothe a bit.

With nighttime sleeping, I leave her until she's fussing. With naps, I'll go get her when she wakes up.

I wait. Sometimes he falls back asleep. I will wait till he fusses for several minutes. I know the difference in the sounds he makes so when I get my que that he's ready I'll pop up and get him.
