    Babysitting A New Baby

    Advertisements
I offerred to overnight my friends new baby, well he's not brand spanking new but he's about 2 months. I have only babysat overnight once, and it was when I was like 14 and it was really my mom doing it.

what do I expect? I know how to feed, burp, change, clothe. Any surprises I should be expecting (other than the lack of sleep)?

Bring a change of clothes for yourself.

Babies that age are easy!! You sound pretty well prepared. Is he on formula or breastfed?

She lost her supply so now he's on formula, but I need to her to show me how much formula he needs and at what times I should be feeding and how much. This kid eats like a fullback and I can tell when he gets hungry (the stick your tongue out face )

Just be ready to get up with him a few times over night. More than likely, a 2mos old will not be sleeping all way through. Make sure his mom brings you PLENTY of clothes and burp cloths and diapers.

Other than that, as long as you keep him fed and cleaned, he'll probably sleep

Oh yeah, there's even directions on the can! You should have no problem. Just be super careful with the spit up because formula spit up smells AWFUL!

Good luck!! I'm sure you will enjoy babysitting for a night.

she said if I put him to bed about 9-10 he sleeps till 4ish and is up hungry needing changed and burped-he'll go back to sleep till 6 but then he's up. He's not developed enough to crawl or play yet, but I don't want to just leave him to sit all day either

    didn't even think of that.

I hope he doesn't spit up a whole lot then!

Just be prepared, he may be a little fussy being away from mom so long if he's not used to it

Any good techniques to soothe him? This is the first time he hasn't been with them for a full day and night. I'm going to feel awful if he's fussy and I cannot fix it.
