    Question Tummy Time...

    Advertisements
...Does anyone else's baby hate tummy time? I feel like I'm a complete failure because Landon dislikes it so much.

He loves to sleep on his belly, but if I put him on his belly to play during the day, he'll go maybe 5 minutes before he starts screaming and flailing like someone just jabbed him with a hot poker.

Is this a normal thing? Is it going to be detrimental that he doesn't stay on his tummy very often?

Have you tried laying on the bed or the couch and having tummy-to-tummy tummy time? Like where he's laying on top of you? I know Aubs will tolerate that when she's too fussy for the regular kind.

Anderson was like that til a few weeks ago when he started rolling over. Now he'll push himself up and hang out on his belly for a lil bit before he starts screaming.

I felt the same way but don't worry, he'll get there!

Only time he likes tummy/tummy time with me is when he's sleepy Otherwise if I try to do it he screams.

Naomi will push herself up and kick to get away from tummy to tummy time we tried it this morning. Even if she's tired it's a no go. She will stay on tummy on the floor for 3-5min before she is livid about it.

I don't push it too much. We try it and when she fusses we stop even if it's only a couple min.

I know lots of babies who hate tummy time. It'll grow on him! He probably just gets tired from using muscles he's not used to using.

3-5 minutes is A LOT better than some of my clients get their kiddos to do!

    It should gradually get longer

William is the same way. He's all smiles for a few minutes then starts screaming.

Jack hated tummy time also until he started to roll over. Now if I put him on his back, he will just roll onto his tummy and play. But I would say he hated it until about 4 months.
