    Question Engorged Boob?

    Advertisements
My right boob keeps filling like crazy. I'll feed him on my right one, and by the time the next feeding rolls around that same boob is engorged, while the one I now have to feed him on is full but not close to being engorged The nipple on that boob is also ridiculous sore Does anyone know how to get your supply to go down on just one boob?

    Any ideas?

Don't feed him from it. Feed him from the left and pump the right, but only enough to relieve the discomfort. Do that until the boobies are even again. Babies are great at emptying the boob which is great for getting rid of engorgement but then the boobie thinks you need that much do it fills right back up again. A pump isn't as efficient.

Green cabbage leaves. I'm not kidding! They just taught us this! Buy a cabbage, put it in the refrigerator. When it's cool, take off some of the inner leaves and place one inside your bra. Rotate out when it gets warm and it will take away the engorgement within a few hours! The new mom's on my unit swear by it!!

I honestly wouldnt pump at all on it.
Do block feeding. Two feedings on each breast.

Don't do cabbage unless you want to dry up. It's not a good option for you since you not deal with drying up engorment.

I had this issue, too. Like Boobie*Feeder said, try block feedings. That's how mine finally corrected itself.

Are you sure you don't have a blocked duct over there? If you are not draining some glands, then they will be engorged. I had blocked ducts a couple times and was sure I would die. lol. If it is blocked, nursing is the best way to fix the problem.
