    Sudden Breastfeeding!

    Advertisements
So some of you may have read my other thread about DD not latching well at a 6 weeks old she has decided that breastfeeding is now okay yesterday I thought aw what the heck I'll pull out the nipple shield and give it a try! She just popped herself right on and hasn't had a problem since!! My child is odd anyways I am beyond relieved that I do not have to keep up with the pumping!! I was always just on the cusp of having to use formula!! Although the lactation consultant did tell me to keep pumping after the feedings for awhile just to make sure my supply stays up since she won't be eating as much as I normally pump. Which works out for now because I can save up on milk! kinda makes the hours of screaming worth it

Awesome. I know it is supposed to be a natural instinct to feed, but I think some babies just take a little longer to catch on. Keep it up!

So happy to hear she got the hang of it! It took my daughter a little bit... but I never got to the point where I was pumping. I was able to get her to latch with the nipple shield (and then I was able to get her to latch without it once she got the hang of it).
Beth, Mama to Emmalee (12), Evan (9), and Ella (4 on May 7) (I really REALLY need to update my picture!)

I haven't taken the nipple shield away just yet but I am hoping I will be able to. Slowly but surely I think it's becoming second nature to her. The first couple of days she would eat for 2-3 mins then scream then eat for 2-3 and now she is eating 10-20 mins when she gets on!
