post natal birth control while breastfeeding

I KNOW I made a thread about getting an IUD, but that didn't end up happening. (very long story-- i'll spare you the book. Nothing medically wrong with me preventing it from happening.)

I know the options are diaphragm, condoms, mini pill, depo shot, natural planning, and IUD.

What method do/did you use and did it affect your milk supply?

I used the mini pill and didn't have any problems, nor did I get pregnant. After my first, since we knew we wanted another one, I actually stopped taking the mini pill at about 8 months post partum and we just used withdrawal for about 6 months before my daughter stopped nursing... then I went back on the regular pill. I've been lucky in that I've never gotten pregnant unless we were actively trying. I wouldn't recommend the withdrawal method though unless you're open to the idea of another kiddo soon LOL.

OH and some women recommended spermicidal film to me. It's just like a little thin piece that you insert in your vagina prior to sex and it dissolves. I never did try it but it sounded like a decent option!

Um, I think the screaming baby was our birth control for a while, just kidding. We used the super reliable method of pulling out.

Oh, well then yeah you might want to try something else. I like the pull and pray sounds much classier! I've never tried the spermicide so I am not sure how well it works.

I need something to hold us over until Aug when my husband can accompany me at the doctor so I can get an IUD inserted. It won't be a LT BC i'm looking for right now.
