If you've flown with a baby around 6 months old...

Did you take your baby's car seat in the plane?
I've read how it is the safest way for a baby to fly in but I wonder if it would be really necessary We will be in a 3 hrs fly and between me and dh I don't think holding him will be that bad.
    What would you suggest?

I've done both. Liked the carseat better.

I haven't brought a carseat yet. Maybe if where I was flying to didn't cost so much, but to bring a seat and have the baby sit in it you have to actually buy a seat. I've done a 12 hour flight alone and all was fine (although I was exhausted after).

I flew with my son when he was 6 months old and I did not take his car seat with us on the plane. I checked it with my luggage, as I also did not want the hassle of carrying it around the airport. At that age there was no getting him to sit in a seat anyway, so it would have been pointless for me. We spent 4 of the 5 hours on the plane standing at the back by the bathroom. He was far too active to be seated, even in my lap.

I wouldn't.. You'd have to buy another ticket. I held DS all the way to Mexico, we did fine.

So that's what people normally do then. I guess I never paid much attention to babies everytime I was in a plane. We are taking the stroller and checking it in right before we aboard.

I'd totally buy one of these if I was traveling with Frances. Luggage Carry on Baby Toddler Travel Accesory Stroller - eBay (item 190353958070 end time Dec-29-09 19:24:33 PST)

She can sit up well enough, and it has a seat belt.

We'll be flying from Korea to the East Coast next month, right when she turns 4 months. We originally intended on her having her own seat, but after checking out prices - there was no way we could swing it.

I checked his carseat in with my luggage. The airline will put it in a clear bag and tag it for you when you check it in.
