    Constipation

    Advertisements
I think my poor baby is constipated. If he dont poop today it will be day 3 he hasnt pooped. He is on formula Because when i give him my breast milk he screams on the top of his lungs and I even had to switch to Soy formula because the dr said he may have a milk allergy problem. I mean Im lacose intolrant and idk if that has affect him this early.

so my question is what can i do to get him to poop? I can see him trying to push he makes noises like he is pushing and he turns bright red but nothing comes out.

    TIA!

    How old?

We used a thermometer with Vasaline on it to help my son... he had it very badly when he was an infant... We moved him from Soy to Gentlease. It helped some (its not for lactose intolerant babies). My oldest had issue, she was on Nutragamin.

You can also give him some Pear Juice (i heard works better than apple)

And the one time he didn't go for a few days, we used Glyserin Suppositories

please talk to your baby's pediatrician about this before taking any advice from an online forum.

If you think he is constipated I would try to gently cycle his legs. Aside from that I would NOT give a three week old any juice or water and I would wait until I had talked to the doctor or nurse

I heard a baby should be atleast 4 weeks old before you give them juice for constipation....even then Id use it as the last option. Wiggling a thermometer gently once an hour is what my nurse told me.

I had to put Karro syrup in a bottle a day for DD. It worked amazingly and I don't have to do it anymore I also put a little prune juice in her formula, like I'm talking not even an ounce, when she was like maybe 3 or 4 weeks old? She hadn't pooped for 3 days and she was so miserable. It worked too. I know, I'm a terrible mother.
