how do you do the night time? - New Moms

How do you and DH (when he's home) handle the "night time shift"?

Such as, DH and I have off and on nights.. like last night was my night to take the kids whenever they woke up and tend to them, and tonight is his night to wake up with whoever wakes up and tend to them. It starts at bedtime.. the person who has ON that night, gets them ready for bed and puts them to bed and everything else after that.

So, what do you do? Is it all you, all the time? All daddy? Depends on the night?

Well I dont have kids... but I know some people who split the shift.
Like the mom would have from like 9-2 and dad would have from 2- till morning... I totally think that would work for DH and I

But also if I am not working... I will being doing the night time routine. I dont think it's fair but thats just me

It's all me. But I stay home and I only have one who started sleeping pretty much through the night by 4 months. I think it will be all me with the next baby too though since I'm going to be EBFing the next one until **hopefully** a year.

I will bottlefeed so technically DH could get up but nah, i'd rather do it myself, i would be watching him like a hawk anyway so i may as well get up

The nights DH is home, he does bathtime and bedtime. The majority of the time, it's just me and I do it all.

For my older kids if my husband is home he gets up with them if they have a nightmare or something like that. With the newborns it's pretty much all me. I BF so i do all of the feedings. Sometimes my husband will sleep on the side of the bed where the co-sleeper is and hand me the baby when they wake up.

When DH is home, it's whoever get's to it first.

Sometimes he would have DS to me to feed him, and most of the time I would get up, feed, change, etc. But DH has claimed bath time because he loves playing with DS.

Wow, honestly, I'm surprised on how many (so far) have said it's all them. I would be pissed if DH didn't get up with them.

On the weekends we take turns getting up with her and during the week I get up with her but on Saturday he lets me sleep in and he takes care of her he says he needs just daddy and Hailey time

Sunday- Thursday I get up with her @ 2:30 and hubby gets up @5 to feed her before he goes to the gym! On the Fridays and Saturday nights he gets up and I sleep!!
