Jordyn is 4 months old in 3 days. She is basically eating 4-8oz every 2-3 hrs. Shouldn't she be lasting longer with that amount of formula? It seriously seems like she is ALWAYS eating.

Maybe it's time to start introducing solids? DS NEVER seemed full at about 3.5-4 months and I had to start feeding him solids so he would go back to sleeping through the night. He was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks and he used that to grow up too fast and need more food! But him waking up 2 and 3 times a night was how I knew for sure he needed some solids and that I wasn't providing enough through breast milk.

I have a daycare baby that is eight months. I've had here since she was seven weeks. She was eating six ounce bottles every two hours at seven weeks. Now she eats an eight ounce bottle every three hours.

My own kids went through a can of formula every 2 to 3 days when they were little. Some love to eat!

    She's eating 32oz every 2-3 hours?!?

    nm...I understand now.

I don't think that amount is abnormal. I remember my son was drinking 8 oz bottles at 4 months.

    I think she means 4 to 8 oz, not 4 8oz bottles.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, in the book Your Baby's First Year, also provides a nice guideline and suggests that 'on average, your baby should take in about 2 1/2 ounces of formula a day for every pound of body weight.' So for an average 3 month old baby boy who weighs 13 pounds, that would be about 32 1/2 ounces a day.

Yeah! I understood after I hit submit. Doing math homework and surfing SOS doesn't mix.

Oops, I saw you edited it after I had hit "submit". At least we know your math brain is working... 4x8=32.
