    It broke my heart

    Advertisements
Dawson fell asleep while I was holding him this morning so I put him down in his crib and took the opportunity to take a shower. I brought the monitor in and heard him crying so I rushed through the rest of my shower and got dressed and so forth. By the time I got to him (maybe 5-10 minutes later) he had quit crying but was still half awake, with the saddest eyes and a single tear on his cheek.

I rubbed his back and he just did the heavy sigh and quiver like they do after a good cry and closed his eyes. I feel like I let him down and he gave up on me.

I took a shower once and put Hayden in his swing and I had the baby monitor in the bathroom so I could hear him. He started crying, so I had to rush just like you did. He was not happy either.

Yea, mommies need showers. Otherwise you'd stink, and good mommies don't stink.

But I'm sure you're a great mom, don't stress he isn't going to be scarred from this.

You didn't let him down sweetheart

He was crying, yes, and it took you longer than 30 seconds to get to him. Doesn't make you a bad mom at all. He probably started crying because he woke up randomly (before he should have) and stopped crying when he realized there was nothing wrong with him. As all babies do when they start to soothe themselves. Mommies NEED showers, even 10 minute ones, and you didn't let him down. He just soothed himself for 5 minutes

    Aw.

He'll be okay... it just hurts us.

Bebe did that when she was younger, and when she *quickly* learned that I wasn't going to rush right over to her and pick her up/coddle her, she stopped doing it. Took a few tries (and it made me ) but it's so much better now.
