When is the best time to be put on it? At the 6 week postpartum appointment or what?

They will prescribe it at that appointment and tell you to start it after your first real period usually. But it depends on the form you choose.

Oh, okay. Thank you. I am still deciding on what I want to do as far as pills or just a shot.

After DS1, I had a Mirena consult at 6 weeks and had it placed the next week. After DS2, I had a Mirena consult at 6 weeks and am having it placed tomorrow... at about 11 weeks (DH has been away at a school so I wasn't in a big hurry, lol).

Just out of curiosity... what happens if you're nursing and don't get a period? When would you start it then?

That's normally when they put you on BC if you want it. I didn't get on mine until 9 weeks PP because I was supposed to be getting an iud put in by I couldn't predict when AF was going to show up so I gave up and just went on the pill.

Breanna: Before I left the hossy.

Johnny: decided not to get on any

    Evan: before leaving the hossy.

I nursed with all of them. I chose the depo shot. I got off the depo right when Evan turned 1 year. About 9 months later I got on Yaz. 5 months later I'm still on it (not breastfeeding anymore). If you choose the pill the mini pill will be best for you since you'll be nursing. There is also mirena. I haven't tried it but have heard good and bad (you'll have that with anything). Good luck.
