    Food to avoid while breastfeeding?

    Advertisements
Is there anything I should avoid eating while BFing? I heard cawliflower can give babies gases if eaten by the mom while breastfeeding.
Giovanni has been having wet farts like crazy for the last couple of days and I don't think it feels comfortable at all.

Cauliflower and broccoli are big gassy foods. Anything that gives you the toots is sure to give hm the toots. With my girls I had to avoid gasy foods but with Paul nothing bothers him. So I am stoked! If he is not fussy odds are he is not bothered by it.

I think as long as they are releasing the gas its ok. Its when they cant release it that it hurts so much.

Milk is the only thing I have to avoid with Bella

I think it's trial and error. I can pretty much eat anything and it doesn't bother Jace. The only time he has ever gotten bad, smelly gas was when I ate a huge amount of cabbage.

I can eat all the green veggies and cauliflower etc, but its dairy that bothers him. No cheese or milk for me.

If he seems really fussy certain days, look for a pattern in what youve eaten. Thats how I figured out the dairy thing.

The norms are foods that will make you gassy will make him as well (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, beans, greens, chili, etc...)

Each baby is diffrent though. As you have diffrent foods just keep in mind if he was uber gassy that day, and think of what was diffrent you ate.

Ditto to the other ladies and it's really only if baby is uncomfortable or in pain. My DD is gassy but she gets it out LOL.
