    Traveling with Baby

    Advertisements
Ok. It may be the pot of coffee I drank. It may be the sheer excitement. It may be the absolute insanity of it all BUT...

I'm road tripping home. I'm packing up the dogs, the baby, and we're hauling ass back home for a 2 week vacation where I can hand Wesson off to both sets of grandparents and sleep for...a week. I have a month of maternity leave and dammit, I need to utilize it. It'll be a drive from NC to WI. I have done it times before, just not with a baby so...

    So far I'm packing...

A box of diapers, wipes, plastic bags, 3 bottles, formula, water for the formula, clothes, blankets, binkies...

What else to pack for a road trip for a (he'll be 7 weeks old). Give me your hints, tips, and ideas for you past road trippers!

I'm not sure about 7 weeks.... I'm sure he is a good sleeper at only 7 weeks. But at 6 months, I packed benadryl... Pack lots of extra changes of clothing that are in an area you can easily get to. Music?

infant tylenol and motrin (trust me, all teh traveling can cause a little fever to come up at the worse times)

extra bottles (I would say min. of 6 total, in case you aren't able to wash them right away.)

some toys (mirror type deals/shaky rattle toys etc...)

    soothing music for fussiness

#'s for your Ped (just in case)

Am I wrong in thinking you should keep the diapers home and pack what you need for the drive? That way you just buy the diapers there and have them there.
Otherwise I would think if you use up all the ones you have at home you're going to have to run to the store after a long drive to get some.

That's just me thinking out load and I'm prolly wrong.
Does he have a soothing toy?

Your biggest challenge is going to be the dogs. They are so easy to travel with- until you are contending with a baby as well. Make sure they are well restrained in the car because you will have to get Wesson pulled together every time you take them out and I know both of mine tried to bolt since I couldn't get them out immediately! For the baby though I would also be sure to have some saline drops and a nose bulb- riding in the car with the air on can be very congesting!

I also wanted to share that you are crazy for doing this! I did just a 8 hour drive and it was no fun- BUT it was totally worth it. Many and for your trip!
