    Help Not Producing Milk?

    Advertisements
I'm having the opposite problem of TwobyTwo, I'm not producing as much milk as I used to.
I've been BF since Christopher was born and never had a problem with producing enough milk. All of sudden I'm not producint as much as I did. I haven't pumped for about 2wks. My grandma said drink lots of tea, I finished the tea this evening. That worked for the past three days.
    Any ideas?

Breastmilk is supply in demand. So if you are pumping or feeding less you will produce less. As long as baby is having enough wet dipaers a day you are ok.

Oatmeal, fenugreek, good hydration can all help increase or mantain your supply.

What makes you think you have less milk? How old is your baby?

if you haven't been pumping as frequently as you used to the supply will go down. it's only natural. i used to have a major problem with milk production in the beginning but with daily pumping/feeding and lots of whole grains in my diet made a huge difference. (ate oatmeal three times a day... after each major feedings with a glass of water) some people take supplements from GNC. good luck... hope that helps.

    How old is your baby?

What kind of tea did you drink? Oatmeal will help a lot. Also just pumping will cause your supply to decrease. You need to have the baby latch onto you. Drink plenty of water as well.

I've been wondering about the Oatmeal too.

OP, my milk went down the last couplle of days with me being sick. Possibly b/c of havung a fever and also probably b/c i didn't eat much because of my throat. Once my throat got better and I started being able to eat again, my milk has started going back to normal amounts. So, you could try eating more maybe? Worked for me...
