    Thumb Down Update Wesson's Arm

    Advertisements
So how am I supposed to write my husband who just left that his sons' arm might not work?

We went to the therapist today and she started showing me exercises and giving me information for support groups about "Erbs Palsy" a Brachial Plexus injury. When I started bawling, she couldn't understand why. It wasn't until she asked me that I had informed her that I didn't know that that's what he had. She was astounded because apparently he had been diagnosed with this since the delivery and NO ONE TOLD ME. I told her that she was the only one who ever came to discuss his arm with me and it was the day he was discharged. I apparently have to take this up with my OBGYN.

She said that we won't know anything until about 3 months since nerves take a long time to heal. He can move his fingers and clench his wrist but he has no reflex in his upper arm at all. I have exercises to do with him everyday to try and bring back some mobility. We see her again in a month to see if there's any improvement.

    I'm heartbroken.

I had to do exercises with my second son also His arm was in similar condition. He does have full use of it now though, so don't lose hope! It's one of those things that you can't foresee happening

I'm so sorry. I'd be having a few words with the doctor that delivered him. That's completely unexceptional that you didn't know until now.
