back in the hospital *updated - I'm Home!*

I went to my checkup for my incision yesterday at 1145. When the doc heard about my headache and shortness of breath he took my blood pressure. It was so high that they immediately admitted me to the hospital. I have been on magnesium sulfate which is pretty nasty stuff and a bunch of bp meds. They have forced 10 liters of fluid out of me since yesterday. I am feeling better but my pressure won't stay down and I miss my Peanut. I want to go home and be with her but I know I need to get better. Dh is here and I know he is scared. He is holding up pretty well. We are still waiting on the results from the cardiologist that came in earlier today. Ugh. I needed to get it out and u ladies are always a great shoulder. I hope everyone is enjoying the little ones today.

    *Update*

I got released this morning and I am at home with DH and the Peanut.

The cardiologist and OB said that it was the fluid that was causing the problems with my heart and lungs. It was definitely post-partum pre-eclampsia. The final count was 15 liters of fluid removed. They said that there was a time on Friday that they were considering putting me in ICU. I swear I never know how close to trouble I am until after the fact. I guess the moral of the story is that if you feel that something isn't right, you need to speak up. Had I not said anything at my checkup on Friday, there was a good chance I could have had a serious complication at home. They sent me home with a few meds for blood pressure and fluid retention and instructions to take my bp morning and night.

I am glad to be home and thank you all for the prayers and good thoughts.

    : hugs

Do you have preeclampsia? I didn't have it until after DS was born. The OB said it happens to 1 in 3 preeclampsia cases. It's god that they caught it before something bad happened to you.

It is pre-eclampsia. They stopped the magnesium last night and they have drained over 11 liters of fluid out of me since Friday. My bp looked good last night while I was sleeping so here is hoping it stays that way today. The cardiologist says it was all the excess fluid causing the heart problems and that my heart looks good now. My lungs have cleared up too and I can breathe again.

I really miss my Peanut though.
