Help Any of you have a kiddo with reflux?

    Advertisements
Dawson has been screaming bloody murder lately, mostly around feedings. I thought it was just gas but it has gotten a lot worse and now sometimes when he hasn't eaten. He is vomiting and is very uncomfortable. I took him to the pediatrician today because I just knew it wasn't "just gas" and he wasn't "just spitting up."

I was right. The poor kiddo has actually lost some weight becaue he can't keep anything down. They have us dissolvable Prevacid for once a day and told me to give him formula at night, breastfeed during the day. (formula I suppose because it is thicker and will stick with him longer)

Anyway, last night we were up for hours upon hours upon hours because the poor kid was just so unhappy. I was wondering if anyone else had been through this? Any suggestions? TIA.

aww your poor baby! Jude has reflux and I bought simply thick to mix in with breast milk for his nighttime bottle so I don't have to give him cereal or Formula. It's expensive, but worth it IMO.

Jackson was a reflux baby but not that bad. I mixed in rice cereal with his night time bottles and it seemed to help. I noticed that whenever he had cereal with his bottles, he NEVER spit up. I tried him on A.R. by Enfamil (acid reflux) and it worked awesomely, except for he ended up with constipation issues so we had to switch to nestle goodstart gentlease. He eventually grew out of the spitting up by 11 months. He would even spit up with solids!

I don't know much, but I know my lactation consultant mentioned something about keeping baby upright for at least 20 minutes after eating... kind of like when an adult has heartburn, laying down makes it worse.

Can you add rice or cereal when they are only 2 weeks old?

I might try that Enfamil though....at least at night

My little one has it. The doctor put her on zantac twice a day and to hold her up after eating for 15-30 mins.
