Help OH MY GOD THAT HURTS!

    Advertisements
ok, so once the lactation consultant came and helped Dawson latch on breast feeding has gone really well. BUT i'm sure it is only because we are only on day 3 but is your nipples supposed to hurt this bad? It is hard for me to want to feed the kiddo because they hurt.

I've heard that if it hurts you're doing it wrong. But i've also heard that it hurts at first no matter what. So what is true? Am I doing it wrong or is this par for the course and it will go away? TIA!

It hurts a lot at first since your not used to it. The first week or more I was so sore everytime she latched on I had to curl my toes to keep from squeezing her head it hurt so bad. Once you get a little more used to it it shouldn't hurt like that anymore. Good luck!

the LC will tell you there should be NO reason for it to hurt, but ellie had a good latch and i STILL was in alot of pain!!

youre doing great! it'll get easier and less painful, warm showerers are AWESOME!

It will hurt no matter what at first. Be sure to let everything dry before you cover up after each feeding. I also found that lanolin ointment/cream to be a Godsend... Good luck and congrats. The experience is worth the initial pain. :-)

I was having the same problem!!! My nipples were actually bleading, but both lactation ladies said he had a good latch, so I didnt understand.

When we got home the pain was just too much, I would cry just trying to get him to latch on.

The experience was not enjoyable for me at all, so needless to say we stopped bf'ing , I am pumping a little, but not much.

Good luck to you, I hope it gets better!

I was in pain for the first 3-4 weeks. DS latched on just fine. You just have to get used to it.

See you in a year daddy

Zayne never had a latch issue but my nipples did crack and it was very painful for the first week or 2.
