I have done it. I think it is better because it doesn't have loads of salt in it. It does, however, take time and effort which kind of sucks.

I am going to try it when the time comes. There are a bunch of cook books.

get a freezer tray with a cover and just make it up (steam the veggies and fruits), blend and then freeze in the ice cube tray. check out the book THe Super Baby Food Book. it's got a purple cover--it's awesome

eta: i do baby led solids. she gets a bit of whatever we are having within reason--we started with baby food but found it to be much more of a problem and hassle than just giving her some of our veggies. we have started with meats now that she has her top and bottom front teeth.

I did it with DS, and it didn't take nearly as much time as I thought it would. I would make a good bit at one time and freeze it. My blender and ice trays were my best friends... LOL.

Invest in a blender or some type of food chopper. They have ones specifically for baby food.
When you use the freezer trays, you can pop the food out when it's done and store it in a freezer bag. Then you can reheat only what you need! Of course, DS isn't eating "real" food yet, but I can't wait to start making it!
