    Pumping

    Advertisements
Is using a pump always excruciating? I only did it once, under my doula's instruction and it was awful! Granted it was during one of the more painful first days of breastfeeding (she wanted to see if I was producing anything and I was unable to hand express), but now I'm scared of it! I don't plan on pumping anytime soon, but I would like to have that option.

I had a really hard time with an electric pump. I switched to the Avent Isis manual pump and it didn't hurt at all and I got a lot more milk out.

I have a medala double electric pump and it doesn't hurt at all. It did hurt in the very beginning when I was engorged and already in pain but not at all now.

I think I finally figured it out and it wasn't painful at all. I would be kinda scared though too if I had a bad first experience.

I used to pump like Elsie the cow and it never hurt unless the suction setting was set really high. Check the settings and fiddle around with them, make sure the suction and speed aren't too high.

i used the medela purely yours and it worked great! if i would pump often, it would hurt really badly though...but at first, your nipples are sensitive so sometimes, it hurts really badly...it's good to use that lanolin cream.
