Infant car seat and car base

    Advertisements
I will be going to the US next week to introduce our son to my husbands family. I will be taking my car seat over there. Now my question: Is it mandatory in the US to use a car base? Are there different laws for each state? I will be going to CA, IL and WI.

It would be great if somebody of you could tell me. I don't want to carry the extra weight with me if not absolutly necessary.

    THANK YOU!

No, it's not mandatory to use a base I don't believe it's a law in any state. They just have to be in a carseat.

I was going to say the same thing.. I think it would not matter about the base cause they all are not made with one....

It also depends on the modle carseat. I just got my evenflow one and it does not have the option to be used without the base.

As long as you have the option, you dont have to have the base

I'm confused, are you asking about the part that detaches from infant rear facing carseats? The part the seatbelt goes through? If that's what you're asking then yes you must bring that part, since it's kind of essential to actually attaching the seat to the car.

Otherwise I have no clue what this question is about...
