    breastfeeding and teething

    Advertisements
So dd is in full swing teething and lately her latch has S-U-C-K-E-D no pun intended. It has been terrible. I try to make a super good effort to get her on good but she pulls herself back to just getting the nipple in her mouth. Is it just because she's teething so her gums are so sore

I didn't have that problem while he was teething BUT there was a time when he really started to have a mouthful of chompers where he seemed to forget how to latch properly for a bit. (different latch just a teeny bit once they have lots of chompers) She may have a poor latch because of mouth pain.

Cant wait for that! I totally forgot about the whole teething stage. I hope it gets better but once those teeth finally come in I dont see how it can.

    Good luck girlie!

Breastfeeding with teeth is not any different then breastfeeding without. Their may be a small latch adjustment period but really it is not a pain or anything of the sort. I have been bitten twice though. Once on purpose I put him down and said firmly NO bite, the second time was an accident he sneezed.
