    If you breastfed your babies...

    1) How did you know when you were ready to wean?

    2) How did you stop the guilt when you quit?

I am not ready to stop now, but I think I will be by 6 months, and I already feel guilty for THINKING about not taking it all the way to a year.

I stopped when the milk stopped coming. There was no guilt. Once they started eating solids, their feedings decreased and all dried up before 12 months.
    Needs work.

I am about to hit my 5 month mark and want to make it until his first birthday. There are days I want to quit but I know I am giving him such a wonderful gift. Good questions!!!

My aunt figured it was time when her daughter bit a hole in her nipple and she had to get stitches....

we just hit the 9 month mark. i'm so close to the home stretch i figure, why stop now? especially because of how good it is for her. i'm especially struggling because i work full time and have to pump 2-3x/day. (i pump when i wake up for her first bottles of the day, and then once or twice during the day, depending on if my boobs are hurting)... but man, is that a hassle. on the weekends and when i'm home, i only pump in the morning, just to keep the stash going... but she doesn't get bottles at home, just boob.

I had to wean Laney when she was 7 months because we couldn't get past the biting. I tried just removing her everytime, but eventually I just dried up. I didn't feel guilty. I felt like it was out of my hands, but I sure missed it!

We self weaned. I wasn't going to quit until she was ready to. She weaned herself a couple of weeks after her 1st birthday.

When she started eating more solid food, and only nursing for comfort. I weaned her just shy of 11 months. When I was finished I switched her to enfamil next step until her first birthday when She started whole milk. I never felt guilty about it. they were my breasts, and I wanted them back. She was a very healthy girl and I felt I was doing her no diservice. of course weaning DH took a little longer
